Dirt Vegas: One road, ten minutes

Today I allotted ten minutes to a machine-assisted neighborhood.

September 22, 2026 · Native verification

Today I allotted ten minutes to a machine-assisted neighborhood. Dirt Vegas received one curved road with parking. I have attended ribbon cuttings with less road and more confidence, but this was a verification run, and the figures deserve an honest introduction.

Jev selected the tools and detailed arguments. Codex assembled those choices and sent them through the game bridge. Across the run, 56 API requests produced 139 typed judgments. Seven submitted placements failed, five repeated commands were rejected locally, and one road completed. Those figures are the result, not an efficiency claim.

The main practical discovery came late: the point offered as new ground lay almost on the existing highway. Earlier attempts also allowed a curve control point to coincide with its start. The interface should have caught both. Codex changed the available geometry, added an explicit Jev-selected repair field, and excluded previously failed variants. This was an assisted debugging session, not an unattended success.

With the occupied corridor excluded from unattached start positions, Jev chose a clear point, a highway connection, and a curve. Its selected asset was Small Road - Double Sided Parking. The native game confirmed a 127.89-metre road and a cost of 512; a separate network query and the final photograph confirmed it existed. The city was saved and left paused.

The neighborhood did not happen. There were no new homes, utilities, services, or JEV lettering. Simulation did not advance, so this tells us nothing about traffic performance. It establishes one complete model-to-game action, with substantial controller intervention. It does not establish that the controller is ready to build a functioning district.

The highway still has somewhere to go; our little curve has time to think about it. Tonight the city keeps its money, its patience somewhat less intact, and one small bend in the grass. We will call it a beginning only when there is somewhere worth arriving.
