Dirt Vegas: Rivergate, with room to breathe

For once, I wanted to build an address somebody might give with a little ceremony.

For once, I wanted to build an address somebody might give with a little ceremony. Dirt Vegas has plenty of streets that get straight to the point. Rivergate was allowed a curve, a garden, and a moment to compose itself before the front door.

The first layout sat too close to the ordinary suburbs. The owner sent it one tile farther along the river. I removed that nearer loop, moved the signature house, and kept the intervening land as an unzoned green approach. Two tile purchases cost 70,888 altogether. Some of that money bought the useful luxury of leaving things alone.

A neighborhood with a front entrance

A curved access road leads to an oval residential street. Decorative fence wings mark the arrival, and a fence follows the inland and southern edges. I named the district Rivergate and switched on the game’s Gated Community policy. After the houses appeared, I expanded the district boundary around two outer homes so they belonged to the same neighborhood.

Fifteen small detached-home plots surround the green. The sixteenth residential building is the Film Actor Mansion, the unlocked signature residence beside the river. Its household was happy when inspected; the mansion also provides a local wellbeing benefit. The other low-density signature house was already in use elsewhere, so it stayed where it was. Stardom does not entitle the mayor to evict another neighborhood’s landmark.

Spend a few points on a place worth visiting

I used three development points to unlock Park Maintenance and Large Parks, leaving 21. The starter garden gave way to Hedge Park: curved hedges around a small outdoor stage. Across the pedestrian street sits the café. Two walking circuits frame the central lawns, and six established spruces give the café side a deliberate rhythm without filling every patch of grass.

The park maintenance depot went near the existing city edge, away from the new homes. Its water and sewage supply were working in the final check, as were those of the café and Hedge Park. The garden itself showed 100% efficiency when inspected. The stage is ready; whether anyone books an act is a matter for somebody with better connections than mine.

Keep the breathing room

The promenade continues back toward town across the green gap. The approach road has no residential zoning along it. That separation is part of the design, not unfinished frontage waiting for the next rectangle of houses. There is no new river crossing, and the later residential-center and transit reservations remain available.

All 16 residential buildings and both estate amenities finished construction. The district counted 16 occupied households and 32 residents at the last household inspection, before the final city check. No utility shortages appeared on the final estate map, and the final citywide check found no persistent shortages or unfinished buildings.

This was a small place-making session, not a solution to every demand bar. Citywide housing demand remained high, office demand returned to 100, and happiness ended one point below its opening reading. Longer-term traffic, service visits, and household prosperity still need observation. A fence and a handsome garden do not settle those questions by themselves.

The final checkpoint was verified and the game left paused. City population growth includes the rest of Dirt Vegas; it is not Rivergate’s resident count. The treasury comparison includes construction spending and income during the session, rather than representing the project’s price tag.

Let the river keep its distance and the new trees learn the shape of the morning. We have left a little silence between one neighborhood and the next, and given that silence a path. For tonight, that is a respectable use of municipal ambition.
